LIFE!

The Spharaphara music crew
Loxion Spharaphara is a group of young boys
from Tsakane extension 13. They were born and grew up in the township. They met
from the township and they decide to come up with the group and start making
music. “We stated Loxion Spharaphara (their group) in 2008, there were three of
us when we started the group and they asked me to come up with a name we will
use so I came up with Loxion Spharaphara and they loved it,” said Mamfengu who
is one of the group members. Mamfengu said they (him and the group) were
motivated by listening to popular hip hop musicians and they decided that they
can also do what those artists do and that’s when they came together and come
up with the group.
They have three albums named: Friday the 13th
they released in 2009, Boom vibe they released in 2014 and Senza kanje the
released in 2015. “I used to dance and that made me come home at night so I
decided to follow music and up to date I am doing music,” Mamfengu said. He
also said that they always see artist from the West Rand appear on television
but now they want to change that because they also want the cameras to look at
the East Rand so people can see that there is talent as well on that side of
Johannesburg. Mamfengu said they want to be on television as well and they want
to help other people around the township by also lifting them up so that their
talent can be seen.
Mamfengu also said that they want to thank
everyone who is supporting their group by listening to their music. “I assure
you that you won’t regret listening to our music, it is unique from other
people’s music and there is a message in every song that is featured in all our
albums." Thuso Moagi, a supporter of Loxion Spharaphara music said he always
listen to their music and its good and he advice everyone to listen to this
music because it is not just music but there is a message that is being
conveyed in all their song. “Their music inspire us as young people from the
community because they sing about things we experience in our everyday life,”
said Moagi.
